As you can see, I’ve once again updated the blog with a new theme. I’ve been working to create a classic theme from scratch (with some help, of course). It’s based on the Twenty Ten theme from WordPress. I had tried this before by modifying that theme, but ran into problems and some limitations. This time around, though, it seems to be coming together pretty well.
I’m super happy with where I’m at. I have custom features such as a mood block (reminiscent of LiveJournal), and a now playing block to show what I’m currently listening to (if anything). I have feature images that aren’t so huge displaying in-line with excerpt text on the post. I’ve styled the category tree to fit my vibe.
I’ve also reverted my post editor back to the classic style. The only issue may be some of the plugins I use, such as Autoblue which will post to Bluesky. But I really hate that block styling and block editor that WordPress has rolled out. While I see the vision, it just bugs me! 😆
So as I continue to tweak things, and think of new widgets or features for the site, I’m content with where I’m at. While I’m still a little bored (continuing from last week’s post), I’m content.
